White Sox
Well, the "Second City" finally has something to brag about other than great steak--The Chicago White Sox won the World Series for the first time since 1917.
This is huge, and the city went crazy last night, and will continue to do so through the weekend I'm sure. Theres talk of a parade on the South Side of Chicago, and hopefully there will be one downtown.
When I moved here I automatically became a Cubs fan because it seemed like everyone else was. I think its the beauty and excitment of Wrigley Field that captivates most people. Two years ago when they were doing really well and almost made it to the World Series, it was very exciting, and gave me hope that they'd be just as good as the Yankees.
But after watching them play the Angels, I got sucked into the World Series. Baseball is probably the only sport that I really understand. Football gets too complicated to me sometimes. I liked the fact that the Sox put their hearts into it, and played hard at the same time.
Last night was truly a great victory for the Sox, and people were quite emotional about it. Even though I didn't grow up here, and I've never even been to a White Sox game, I think that its wonderful for the fans, and for the city itself.
So GO WHITE SOX!!! And YAY CHICAGO!!!!
