Is There No Hope??

I just got done reading an article in the Chicago Tribune that made me kind of sad.

It's happened folks.

Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson have announced that they are legally seperating. I like many others, became a fan of MTV's Newlyweds, laughing at Jessica's ditzy moments. I also will admit to having 2 of her albums, and buying her Dessert Treat Lollipop flavored body splash and lip gloss.

I like Jessica, and I like Nick. I feel bad that they are unable to work things out, and be together forever. Part of me thinks that its because of her father who's also her manager. I'm really sorry but he gives me the creeps.

I would also like to add--does anyone think that its kind of ironic that they used the same statement that Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt used when they announced their seperation?
Maybe Jen really was giving Jessica some advice on how to handle all of this!

I guess that this also means that Us Weekly is true, and that People takes too long to come out with the truth...

However, this will now be my new defense to my Mom whenever she tells me that I should have a 5 carat diamond on my finger. I mean Jessica Simpson is the same age as me--25. I would never want to have gotten married when I was 22 and then end up divorced at 25.

This is why I fear getting married sometimes. I only want to do it once and for the right reasons. This also makes me feel like there's no hope for young people to get married and live happily ever after. Especially those in Hollywood. If I was a celebrity, I don't think that I would ever get married. Thats one reason why I'm glad that I'm just a regular young woman with a regular job.

So, to Nick and Jessica, I was pulling for you. I hope that you both find whatever it is that you're looking for....

Awesome post!!

"This also makes me feel like there's no hope for young people to get married and live happily ever after."

I know plenty of normal, non-celebrities, that have gotten young and it's lasted. There's always hope! You never know when the right person will come along and sweet you off of your feet and take you to marital bliss. Maybe people forget that marriage is forever? It's sad if they do...

True, there is always hope! Plus, IMHO, Jessica's Dad appeared to be too involved in their relationship, plus having cameras in your face for the first 2 years of your marriage cannot be a good thing.

I, too, at first, felt bad for them, but I think they brought it upon themselves, really. They shouldn't have brought the cameras into their relationship if they didn't think they could handle the drama. I'm really disappointed in them, not so much feeling bad for them. She was the "self proclaimed" virgin, too! And, she's ending her marriage? UGH. :(

I agree--I was so sad when I heard that. I was a huge fan of Newlyweds and although I've never liked Nick as much as Jessica, they were cute together. Jessica's dad gives me the creeps also, not sure what it is about him. Also, where do you find Jessica's Dessert line of products? I've never found them anywhere around here...
