My Response to Complaining About The Hurricane
I was inspired by Feather's post about this, along with the news so I thought that I'd write my own thoughts on this subject. I don't mean to offend anyone with this so please don't take it personally. I am just stating my opinion.
First off, hurricane Katrina was no one's fault. It was a natural disaster and that is something that is beyond our control. I don't think that I need to say that, unless you weren't paying attention in Science class in the 3rd grade.
Secondly, those who know me very well know that I didn't vote for President Bush and that I don't support him on the following decesions/plans/agendas that he has:
1.The War in Iraq
2. Education
3. Social Security
4. Gay marriage rights
5. Abortion
Thirdly, I know that he's a busy man, but seriously he should've like visited New Orleans and the other affected areas and took some action to help aid those people. Or met with the mayor of the city.
Last week I listened to Steven grieve, get mad, and frustrated. He lived in New Orleans his whole life up until a year ago, and he feels that the President should've taken some more aggressive action.
No wonder there is looting going on there. These people were mad because they weren't getting the help that they needed.
This is going to be the most costly natural disaster on our own soil and hopefully with all of the fund raising going on that it will speed up the process.
On a brighter note, I will say that the amount of support that I've seen at work, among friends, and even just in the city of Chicago is amazing. It makes you realize that some people really do care, and that there is hope that New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast can rebuild and will one day be even more beautiful than it was before this happened.
So thats that. I really hope that I don't recieve hate mail after this post...Like I said before, I am just stating my opinion and I don't want anyone to be offended. Because thats not my intention!

hiya - i'm just curious about your friend's comment - not upset or anything :)
What did he expect President Bush to have done MORE agressively? (ugh, 1 g or 2?)
